That dash is not aesthetically pleasing to me. Just dumb looking. Ugh. Also hate the glued in iPad look...

Tesla has got to figure out how to do interiors right. I sat in a Model S last year for the first time and was quite underwhelmed by the interior. It all just felt a bit cheap. The switches and buttons from Daimler didn’t bother me though.

I don’t like the no gauges look either.

Well, everybody’s doing the iPad thing now. The novelty will wear off quickly, I guess.

When my wife saw the interior she said “That’s awful...it’s like our old Chevette with a television jammed in the middle. I mean, look at the inside of the doors”.
I couldn't stop laughing...hell I'm giggling again just thinking about it. That's like the worst interior in history, but she has a point.

Then it’ll be ipads with tactile buttons.

Weird. Most the comments I've seen have been very harsh on the new display.

After that, they’ll make holographic three-dimensional buttons with simulated tactile feedback.
Heck, in the end they will be like real physical buttons!

That better change before the production model because the interior has all kinds of shit ergonomics. I am not impressed in the slightest with the Model 3 as I see it right now.

I saw no one calling it futuristic
The interior was clearly an afterthought. I guess they'll have an super hyped reveal of the production interior 9-36 months from now.

Still looks dumb. I agree with somebody last night that said the interior will look dated going forward.
Kind of like factory installed DVD players with multiple monitors and multiples sources and OMG, give us $6000 for all this freaking tech!
The cheap tablets, hot spots and movie compression software came out and suddenly their in-car entertainment was meaningless. Tesla among other is working working working to make this giant screen thing work and in a few years somebody will create some other tech to make it irrelevant.

I will say though that this design element might prove helpful in the long run.
One of the biggest drawbacks to in dash infotainment systems is that the technology is often times completely obsolete before the vehicle is even paid off.
With an easily removable tablet styled interface, it may eventually be possible to upgrade the tablet with a purpose built replacement unit. This would allow not only software upgradability, but the ability to upgrade to modern hardware as well as technology continues to improve... assuming of course that the display contains more than just a touchscreen, otherwise it’s just another thing that’ll eventually end up breaking and dangling from it’s wires.

These iPad like screens in cars are going to age like milk, I mean look at the digital dash from cars like the Buick Reatta in the 80's. People’s cars interiors are going to look ridiculous and outdated at car shows decades from now instead of cool and retro.
